South African Women & Sport Foundation - @SAWASF

South African Women & Sport Foundation (SAWASF)

The DCNF works closely with SAWASF in fact, Muditambi Ravele (CEO of SAWASF) made the original introduction to WSNet at a brief meeting in Johannesburg airport in early 2019. At which point WSNet committed to supporting the great work they were both doing in South Africa to help more girls engage with sport. SAWASF is determined to help South African women engage with sport and to recognise the contribution that women can make to sport in SA.

Mission – to develop a culture where all girls and women will have equal opportunities, equal access and support in sport and recreation at all levels and in all capacities as decision makers, administrators, coaches, technical official as well as participants so that women and girls may develop and achieve their full potential and enjoy the benefits that sport and recreation have to offer.

DCNF and SAWASF have worked together on a range of netball-related projects (PIX)

You can help The Women’s Sports Network translate NETBALLMoJo into to Zulu and have it modified culturally and practically for a Zulu audience in rural communities. £3,000 will modify NETBALLMoJo, re-print and deliver 500 copies to those communities to encourage girls into netball, give them a better understanding of personal hygiene, help engage with local elders and potentially attract new sponsors.

DCNF - Case study - Tekkies at Midstream College Primary School, Centurion with @SAWASF
DCNF works tirelessly in partnership with @SAWASF. A joint project to sort, wash, and re-lace 281 pairs of shoes, sneakers and tekkies donated by Midstream College parents and scholars. Once sorted they were donated to three schools waiting to assist learners with tekkies for sport - enabling 281 girls to play netball in proper trainers for the first time.
